Accessible Typeface

Typography II
DSGN 1472
Monospace

This was my final assignment for my first semester of my second year at Niagara College. The assignment goals were to create a typeface focused on being accessible for a visual disability of the students choice through extensive research.

I chose to focus my typeface around dyslexia, because my father has struggled with it his whole life. My research showed that monospaced type helps the dyslexic population because of the even spaces between letters. I also found that other typefaces with similar goals proved that heavier lower sections helps the letters stay grounded to the reader.

Beyond accessibility, I wanted to create a typeface that is backed by research and looks great at the same time.

This project was my final assignment for the second semester of my third year at Niagara College. It was a group project completed in collaboration with CMHA Niagara, focused on developing a new campaign for their upcoming annual appeal season.

The primary goals were to inspire increased donations, maintain brand consistency, enhance visibility, and foster stronger community engagement. These objectives were clearly outlined in the project’s creative brief, which we were required to analyze and interpret as part of the assignment.

Deliverables included:

    Letterhead
    Envelope
    Response form

    Brochure
    Poster

Social media content including stories, carousels, and               testimonials

I took full responsibility for all print deliverables, while my partner led the social media assets. This division of roles required strong communication and collaboration, especially during the early stages of the project, where we worked together to establish a unified visual identity before moving into production.

We developed the campaign tagline “Mental Health is Infrastructure.”
The concept positions mental health as the invisible framework that holds communities together, just as vital to Niagara’s strength as its bridges, roads, and schools.

Public speaking was also a key component of this project. To complete the assignment, we delivered a concise presentation of our campaign to a representative from CMHA Niagara, explaining our concept, design decisions, and how the work supported their organizational goals.

This remains one of my favourite projects from my time at Niagara College and continues to be one of the most beneficial experiences in my development as a designer, particularly in collaboration, print design, and real world client communication.

Album Rollout

Digital & Print120 x 120  mm
72ppi & 300ppi

A project for a recurring client and local underground rapper named Chris G with a strict deadline. I conceptualized and designed an album cover for digital and print release, working closely with the client in the early stages. Once the album cover was settled, the client expanded the project to also include youtube videos for the release along with future work.

Event Poster

Digital & Print8,5 x 11 in
72ppi & 300ppi

A simple 8,5in x 11in event poster for a dance club in New York City. The client reached out to me via instagram and provided me with visual examples of colour, typography, and tone. I took those examples and created 3 possible iterations of what I believed the client wanted. We landed on one of the 3 options and the poster went live soon after.
